We offer a broad and balanced curriculum allowing students up to 30% extra time in the teaching of English, Maths and science. Pupils who have learning difficulties are supported during the school day and are also given the opportunity to attend lessons specially arranged for them in the early evening after school. Every effort is made to help them deal with their learning difficulty, in order to improve their skills and progression.
Distinguishing features of the New Horizon Community School Curriculum
Here at New Horizon Community we encourage our students to follow the guidance of the exemplary character of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu’alayhi wasallam
(Peace be upon him)
Every lesson begins with the students reciting following dua:
“Oh Allah increase my knowledge, amen”
Every lesson ends with the students reciting the following dua:
“oh Allah teach us what benefits us and let us benefit from what
we have learnt, amen”
The New Horizon Community School fully implements the requirements of the National Curriculum and adheres very closely to the attainment targets and programmes of study set by the National Curriculum for the core and foundation subjects.
During Key Stage 4, the National Curriculum Guidelines are followed for all GCSE subjects. External examiners moderate the coursework. The syllabuses New Horizon Community School follows are produced by recognised examination bodies such as Edexcel, OCR and AQA.
