A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD TEACHER: MS SAFEERA AHMAD
Asalaamu o Aleikum. Leeds is a culturally progressive city where diversity amongst religions and languages are revered and publicly celebrated. New Horizon Community school is a flourishing representation of our community as we provide an inclusive environment in which all students have an opportunity to thrive: academically, spiritually and socially.
We are extremely proud to be the only school for girls in Leeds that in addition to offering the traditional National Curriculum subjects also offer Islamic Education and Arabic. Our staff are extremely committed to the individual requirements of our students as we recognise the importance of dealing with them as young people deserving of respect for their differing personalities, characteristics and history. We consider ourselves as truly blessed to be in an environment whereby we find ourselves inspired everyday: in our home, away from home.
New Horizon Community School believes in educating its students by making them consciously aware of their responsibilities as Muslims, young women, as members of a family and British society. We have engaged in various successful fundraisers, initiated by our students who felt a sense of duty towards specific causes. Our students have become a constant reminder of the importance of generosity and humility within Islam. They are our source of hope as the eldest of our students mentor our youngest to absorb the values of our school.
The success New Horizon Community School has achieved since its creation in 1994. is all due to the mercy and protection of Allah as He has placed us under the guardianship and prayers of those who have constantly strived for our survival. Our school has over the years built great relationships within our community including those with parents, schools and other organisations/businesses. We sincerely hope to maintain and strengthen our current associations but hope to develop our sense of community by widening New Horizon community school’s network of parents and friends.
